Summer's End | Snaps of Summer 2015

Last summer, I did a post somewhat summarizing the best aspects of Summer 2014, through photos and short musings. There's no denying that this summer has been one of my most enjoyable and productive summers yet- I spent these past two months working at the SAT, adjusting back after studying abroad in France, and hanging out with my great group of friends from home; and, of course, traveling a TON. It's always fun to look back on posts like this, especially when I'm wallowing in my school misery, so I thought I'd make it an annual thing. I hope you like seeing a glimpse into what I've been up to! What did you love about this summer? Can't wait to hear your thoughts! xoxo Isabelle

Not too long after I got back from France, my family had another getaway planned for the beginning of June. When we went to Italy about 4 years ago, just my sister, my mom, and me, we met another family that we sort of really bonded with. We met up with them last year in DC, so another get-together was in order. My sister recently moved to the city, therefore we made it a point to visit her apartments and explore a bit during our weekend together. I have always loved New York, but something new to me that I enjoyed were the mirrors in Madison Square Park. A photographer's dream! Otherwise, we did some expected shopping and tons of excessive but totally necessary eating.

milestone summer end

With senior year quickly approaching  this summer was crucial for me in preparing for the stress that awaits me at school (can you tell how excited I am!!). Beside cracking the SAT with a tutor all summer long, I also did some college visits alongside trying to decode the enigma that is the Common App. This summer, I made it out to William & Mary in Virginia and Boston College in Massachusetts. They're both such beautiful schools! In addition to making advancements in the college process, I also am now a licensed driver!! Shockingly enough, I got my license to drive despite having not practiced for the entire school year. At first, I wasn't too keen on driving, but I think I've gotten the hang of it through experience and making killer Spotify playlists.

summers end provence paris

Despite having spent the year there, France couldn't keep me away for long. My mom and I have always wanted to go to the south of France, and during my time abroad, I never made it on a train down to Provence and Marseille. At the end of June, we went to Provence and were based in Saint Rémy for our stay, but traveled around to places like Cassis, Gordes, Les Baux de Provence, and near Nice. Speaking French again felt wonderful, and I loved getting to explore a new part of a country that felt like home. We spent a few days in sweltering hot Paris after taking the train from the South- we went from sunflower fields and rolling lavender beds to the serenity of the Seine on a hot summer night.
friends end of summer

Last but not least, this was a summer filled with friends and unforgettable memories, for a variety of reasons. This was the first summer that any of my friends had their licenses, so we got to experience that form of freedom in getting dinner whenever we felt like it and venturing to the beach at the last minute. Spending the year away from my childhood friends was strange, but I was greeted with a welcome home party and summer plans upon arrival. Keeping my friendships with people at home throughout my boarding school experience was the best decision I made, because once high school ends (this coming year!!), I know I'll still have these girls who are there for me no matter what. Love you guys!! S/O to those of you who read my blog. xx

3 Easy Smoothie Recipes! ft. Kirra

Hey guys! At the beginning of the summer, my good pal Kirra and I filmed this smoothie video because we're both smoothie addicts. Kirra also happens to be the funniest person I've ever met, so this combo was quite golden. I waited a tad too long to get into editing it, with all of my traveling and such, and then had tons of issues with Final Cut Pro once I had edited the whole thing. Last night, I reedited the whole thing because I couldn't just not post this footage! Hopefully this is not only funny but perhaps useful? If you try any of these recipes, tag me and #lostbutnotfound on social media so I can see what you guys come up with! Make sure you watch in HD. Enjoy! xoxo Isabelle

Gloucester Outlets Blogger Party

One thing that I haven't done as much as I'd like to during my blogging career is attend events. Most PR parties are held in New York for the cream of the crop type bloggers (one day, one day), and so I've just never been in that mix. About a two weeks ago or so, I was invited to attend the opening of the Gloucester Outlets in Blackwood NJ. The only outlets I've ever been to are by my school, which aren't so great, and the okay ones in Atlantic City. I was allowed to bring a plus one, so my mom drove my friend Allison and me (expressway driving is not my thing) around 45 minutes to the site. Upon arrival, we were amazed by all of the people and the turnout. Walking to the VIP Shopper's Lounge, we were in awe as we saw big names like Nike and J.Crew and deals for the books. Standing awkwardly on the red carpet outside the lounge, we took some pictures and felt like celebrities for at least 10 seconds as people stared at us in confusion and intrigue. Inside, we were treated to beverages, a psychic who analyzed our drawings of trees and told us our life stories , sweet $wag bags, and a photo booth, which Allison and I frequented. Getting to chat with some of the other bloggers and spend the night with my best friend felt so perfect. Once we had taken too many pictures in the photo booth and were given a tour of the area, we went out into the masses to enjoy the entertainment and tons of shopping. Thanks again to Samantha at Karma Agency for inviting me! xoxo Isabelle

Wearing:// Dress: Urban Outfitters, Cardigan: Ibiza, Shoes: Vince (Slingback Version), Earrings: French Market (Zigzag Cutout Hoops)

Every time I walk into Urban Outfitters or Topshop, I tell my self, "You do not need more dresses", and yet; I remain consistent in not listening to my own advice. While it may have been the end of July when I got this dress in Boston, I justified this purchase with all of the "events" that I could wear it to...or not. I over-shop and I'm only slightly proud. I just like to have my options, you know? *Sigh*

It seems like it has been forever since I've sat down and written a post....I guess because it has! I couldn't tell you where I've been these past two weeks without a quick scroll through my Camera Roll, because let's be honest, I basically document and create memories of my life solely through photos. From the looks of it, I've been eating out wayyyy too much with my friends, soaking up the sun and the braving the freezing sea, stressing myself out about college apps, and trying to fix a video I filmed (still unresolved!). So just the usual stuff, really. I spent all of yesterday -for 7 hours, to be exact- trying to fix this video with some tech guy I found online. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll have to reedit the whole thing, and I wasted yesterday sitting at the computer looking for a solution. But rest assured, because I will get this video up eventually!!! It's hilarious. Otherwise, I am just trying to gear up for senior year and tennis preseason. It's hard to believe that this is my last tennis season and the last time I'll be 'heading off' to high school. Time really does fly. Ignoring the fact that my friends and I are all turning 18 soon. Yup, not gonna happen. Sorry for being MIA, but hopefully I can get some more posts up during the fall!! Hope all is well with you guys. Enjoy the last bits of summer! xoxo Isabelle

Evening Lights | August Playlist + Netflix Faves

evening lights august playlist
Even when I'm up until inhumane hours of the morning listening to music, I still tell myself that getting Spotify was a good idea. I'm only slightly kidding. That being said, I bring to you today my August playlist! It has a rather good mix while not having too much randomness, from Blackbear to Zella Day (new album!!) all the way to Alt-J. I hope this playlist gives you some good new tunes to jam out to! Here's the Spotify link to it - As for my Netflix faves, here they are:

Le Chef- In order to keep up with my French, I've been watching French movies, and this is one I found in the international section. It's basically an underdog kind of story, where the main character gets to work with one of the top chefs in Paris, whilst trying to support his family. Definitely not the best movie I've ever seen, but it's pretty good for a French film. You can watch it with English subtitles if you'd like.

The Carrie Diaries- There's no doubt that I watched this show religiously on TV  before it was cancelled, and then was crushed when it got the cut after only two seasons. I started re-watching it a few days ago, and I'm already almost done with the series....again. I can't say enough good of this show- every episode just get's better and better, which makes watching 10 episodes at once very easy to do. Carrie Bradshaw is everything I want to be and more. GO WATCH IT!!

Yves Saint Laurent- Another French film, but a different type of feel. This movie follows a summary of YSL's life, which I didn't know too much about. You get to see more about how his influence in the fashion world came to be, through many struggles. If you liked the Coco Avant Chanel movie, which is about the impoverished life of Coco Chanel, you'll enjoy this film.

Clueless- The ultimate classic of a movie, Clueless is up there in my favorite movie list, along with 10 Things I Hate About You and Never Been Kissed. Clueless trails the glamorous life of Cher and her friends, while Cher figures out her love interest in her step-brother and high school in general. Such a great movie for a girl's night or even just a "me" day.

Wearing:// Dress: Free People, Shoes: Les Tropeziennes, Earrings: c/o Oasap  (old)

Ever since I came back from 9 months spent traveling across Europe, exploring with my friends, and managing school all the while, I've tried to instill the same sense of adventure, even if it is just in my home town. Living in the same place for 17 years, you'd think that you'd know all the ins and outs of your area, but there's always something to uncover. Not too far from my suburbia town is what many vacationers deem "the shore", but what I refer to as the beach. While my white as snow skin can't handle too much vitamin D, when I do go to the beach, it's always a pleasant experience. We went to this shoreline, which is lined with beautiful houses and rocky terrain. Despite almost falling over (multiple times) and being splashed countless times, it felt cool to be 'walking in the water' without being submerged. With the gorgeous sunset and the calm surroundings, this fairy-like Free People dress fit right in. Even though I've lived here for my entire life, I've discovered a new place to add to my
'home' map.

Just as I'm getting into the routine of not being in France (once again) and home life, I'm already prepping for the future. The Common Application went live yesterday, and I'm trying to get a head start on my essays before senior year consumes all of my time. A much needed yoga class was in order this morning, as it is easy to be stressed by questions like: "what are my chances? early decision or nah? are my scores good enough?" etc. Take time to relax a bit and live in the moment. Hoping you guys are having a serene Sunday. Make sure to enter my Rebecca Minkoff giveaway in my previous post!! xoxo Isabelle
