Mixed Up

If you live on the East coast or remotely close to it, your eyes are probably widening at the sight of my skirt sans tights attire. But in my defense, prior to today's *extremely* strange day of snow/sun/wind gusts, it was beginning to feel like spring- driving with the windows down, jamming out to music, and smiles upon everyone's faces. To my luck, spring break is just a week away, which means warmth is in my near future au Belize. That means mixing prints, sporting ripped denim shorts, and shark-bite tops galore- woooo! I'm ready.

Honestly, I think at this point in the school year, the anticipation of summer and freedom is upon everyone as a whole- teachers included (shocker, I know). I personally am just about ready to throw in the towel…..I nearly dozed off while conducting an experiment in chemistry lab today, which is simply lovely. I just have to reassure myself of the adventures to come- Belize, Greece, and possibly California. Things are looking up. Do any of you have exciting plans for upcoming holidays? Let me know! I would love to gush over traveling with you, haha. I'll be back with a new post very soon! xoxo

P.S. I may or may not have thought of the title of this post b/c of the Hannah Montana song….I'm a child at heart, okay guys.

Sadie Hawkins | Getting Ready

If you've read my previous post, you would know I recently attend my school's annual Sadie Hawkins. As mentioned, school affairs aren't exactly my cup of tea- however, getting dressed up is (duh). Here are few somewhat behind the scenes pictures of my regimen for fancier occasions. Hope you enjoy!

P.S. You're (sort of) looking at the new owner of Photoshop! I've been playing around with it a lot, and seeing as it isn't too different from GIMP, I can tell this will be a lovely friendship. Let me know what you guys think of the editing and have a nice weekend.

After applying my typical face makeup, I swiped on M.A.C's 'Well Dressed' pressed powder blush. It adds a little flush to your face that looks surprisingly natural in pictures and quite subtle. Also, there isn't any sight of obnoxious glitter, which is always a plus.

Probably the most important part in my routine any day- eyebrows. To me, eyebrows shape your face and can wipe off or at least distract from a tired face almost instantly. I use the Anastasia 'Brow Wiz' in Brunette, which is a double sided kinda deal, with a comb and pencil on each side. Score.

With eyes, my makeup usually goes one of two ways: "extremely dramatic, Black Swan shining moment" or "au naturale". Oddly enough, I found a happy medium for this dance, utilizing my Naked 3 Palette. I couldn't tell you what I applied here, but for the actual soirée, I used 'Dust' on the inner corner, 'Nooner'/'Limit' on the lid, and 'Liar' for the crease. To complete the shimmery look, I swiped on my trusty L'Oréal Fiber Lash Mascara.

For my lips, I've been gravitating towards more bold colors for winter and for a general change. Tonight, I went for the my-lip-color-but-better appearance, opting for my L'Oréal Color Riche Balm in '219 Plush Plum'. With my almost seasonal chapped lips, I slabbed on my EOS lip balm prior to the color balm, making application that much easier and bearable.

I try to refrain from using heat on my hair, but hey, it is inevitable sometimes. I figured I might as well tame my hair for at least one night. I'm not too keen on curling my hair the traditional way, but rather just wrapping it around the barrel for a less structured look. To my surprise, my hair even lasted until the next day for some not-so hideous second day curls. If you were curious, I attempted to use my Hot Tools '1' inch curling iron.

For details about my outfit of the night, check out this post.

As much as I wish I lived the 'Gossip Girl' upper east side life, attending glamorous parties weekly, my high school student life does't quite call for that. However, last night was the annual Sadie Hawkin's dance (where girls are supposed to ask guys). Although I didn't ask anyone and am not exactly a fan of dances, we all know that "getting dressed up" is probably the best part (next to hovering the food table, of course). While in Texas with my mom and sister, I found this dress at LF and was immediately in love. The color alone sold me, as well as the architectural bodice which is unlike anything I own. Even though it wasn't the greatest of nights considering I spent it standing around (fondue in hand), at least I looked good doing it! Jokes jokes.

I shot these photos prior to actually going to the dance over the weekend, as I assumed I wouldn't have much shooting time, so here are some shots from last night. Expect a getting ready post soon. :) Hope you guys had a delightful Valentine's Day!

This post is my take on the ever so famous "Hit List" post many sites like Teen Vogue do, showcasing what's new and fresh. However, this will just be some of the things I personally have been loving and can't seem to get enough of. I will probably be posting these whenever inspirations strikes. Lemme know what your latest loves have been in the comments! And thank you for the wonderful feedback about my hair in my last post. All of your comments consistently make me smile from ear to ear. Hope you're doing well and Happy Valentine's Day! Lots of love.   xoxo

This picture I recently found on Tumblr is basically everything my future desk in my NYC apartment should and must look like (dream big kids, haha). Anyway, the collage of fashion pictures combined with the delicate roses is too much to handle for me- I'm just in love. Oh! And the hard drive/tablet is so blogger-y aka so me. I need this set up.

Seeing as I trudged through about 10 inches or so of snow to get to class this morning, I only see it fitting to mention that I have my warmest sweaters on full rotation. That being said, jeans are not quite sufficient on an everyday bases, and so I have resorted to printed jeans and my trusty waxed denim. In my "Downtown" post, I featured my pair of Carmar coated jeans, but just about any brand does them well. (J Brand and Unknown featured above)

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I have spent this past week bitter about not being at Fashion week….especially with the influx of dreamy Instagram snaps. As I have seen at least tidbits of just about every show (I follow a lot of people), I have come to decide that Tommy Hilfiger is high up on my list of favorites. The Aspen theme was practically ingenious and I know I will surely be getting my hands on one of those coats/beanies/everything come next winter.

The day after I say my not so tearful goodbyes to my classmates, I will set out on a girls' trip to Greece! I've always wanted to visit Greece to capture the beautiful sunsets, beaches, and culture. I can finally live my Kardashian dream, instead of repeatedly watching the Greece episodes. #noshame And if you're reading this  Noelle (my sister), I claim Kylie.

In fashion, it seems as if the current season only lasts for a month or so until the next season's collections are released. Among the many new collections I've been drooling over, Wildfox 'Lagoon' is my favorite. It features a boho beachy yet flower child vibe. Lets just say it makes me want to board the next flight out of the North East. My favorite hoodie reads "My Wish List: First class ticket to paradise". 'Nough said.

Lastly, is my blogger-crush of the moment; Bonnie of Flashes of Style. Bonnie is the absolute epitome of vintage. She consistently posts girly free people esque looks that I try to collect inspiration from, however its hard to master this look as well as she does. She also lives in New York, so I can also live vicariously through her in that sense as well, so basically I have a lot of envy for her life. Check her out!

Talk to you guys very soon!

When it comes to most holidays (other than Christmas of course!), I usually stick to my everyday attire, turning a cold shoulder to the eccentric prints/colors of said occasion. However, when it comes to Valentine's day, I like to break out red lipstick and heart prints galore. Although this Valentine's day I will most likely be curled up in bed watching Gossip Girl, indulging in chocolate, it is always fun to get dressed up even if just for a get together with friends. Or you could always strut 'round in some sweat pants, whatever floats your boat really.

Ugh….I can't believe long weekend is over. But, have no fear, twenty-seven days till spring break. Wooo! Sometimes I laugh thinking about how often we have school, but then I realize the days we do have are quite rigorous, so all is well. Despite holding onto the hope of going to Belize in less than a month, today's day back was real strenuous. Definitely one of those "I know nothing" kind of days. Well, I'm off to attempt some chemistry (aka Gossip Girl, my addiction). Hope y'all are surviving the weather and looking forward to warmer weather! xoxo

P.S. What do you guys think of my little hair cut? I'm 5 inches lighter! It's a lot easier to manage and I sorta feel like Vivienne from Legally Blonde…not sure if that's a good thing, haha. Nonetheless, change is always good! Lemme know your thoughts.

Dallas Weekend Diary

1. Dallas skyline 2. A popular jewelry store in Texas 3. Mhhmm peanut butter cup and chocolate marshmallow cupcake sundae from Sprinkles 4. Texan flag and American flag side by side 5. THE HOLY GRAIL (Christian Louboutin boutique) 6. West-village, where 'LF' from my previous post is located 7. Overwhelming red velvet pancakes from Max's Wine Dive 8. An abundance of cupcakes at Sprinkles

As you may or may not know, I took a little weekend trip Saturday to see my sister in Texas. The trip was jammed packed with eating, shopping, and more eating. *still in a food coma* :O Maybe its time I start that whole "new years resolution thing"……nah. Anyway, I've never been to Dallas, let alone Texas, and I'd describe it as a suburban style New York- basically everything you could want in a city. Hope you guys enjoy these snaps from my mini getaway and I'll be back with a new post very soon! (hint: chop chop!) ♥

Downtown

As much as I want to/had planned on boasting about the weather in Dallas, the temperature and forecasted sleet doesn't seem to agree with me. That being said, the opportunity to purchase some "much needed" and not packed warm clothing was pounced on by yours truly. One of our target spots was a boutique that I rarely get to visit, LF, where a 60% off sale started just yesterday…..talk about good timing! Everything they have is so unique and my style, but they have only five locations and none of which are close to me. #newjerseyprobs

Beside shopping, all we've been doing in Texas is eating, eating, and more eating. Literally every single "notable" restaurant or chain (i.e. Sprinkles, In-n-Out, etc.) you can think of is here. Pretty sure I'll have gained at least 10 pounds by the end of my stay, but hey, it's vacation. I shall be showcasing some of the delicacies I have consumed in a photo diary soon, like these red velvet pancakes. Yum. Hope all is well with you guys! xoxo
