The Decorating Diaries Edition 1: Holiday Room Ideas

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. As I write this, I am slowly but surely falling into my post-Thanksgiving food coma…...Anyway, today's post is all about how I updated my room for the holiday season, with tips that you guys can apply to your own rooms. I am thinking of making this a series of different room related posts, so let me know what you think about that and if you have any specific requests. Enjoy!  xx

Clearly my favorite step; the shopping. Begin your updating your room by venturing out to your favorite decor store and gathering items. One of the best places for holiday related items has to be Pier 1, which has almost too many things. However, if you don't have Pier 1, you can also head to Target for some pieces. Whilst there, you can gather anything that you would want in your room, like a mini tree (& ornaments), holiday pillows, lights, candy, etc. etc. I recommend checking out the dollar area, which has some hidden treasures when it comes to the holidays. And, if you're like me, you will also grab an abundance of things you really don't need (christmas fuzzy socks, HELLO!)

Could it get any better than a mini Christmas tree with glitter ornaments and a sequin skirt? I think not. One of my favorite decorations for my room is my mini-tree, complete with multi colored lights and princess themed ornaments. It may seem a bit silly to buy a full on tree and ornaments for only a mere few weeks, but the great thing about fake trees is they last year after year. #score

An easy way to decorate your room for the holidays is with small, scattered accents. Being the girly girl I am, I displayed a set of Deborah Lipmann holiday nail polishes I received last year on my jewelry chest, adjacent to a "ho ho ho" sign I found at Target. In addition, you can utilize left over ornaments from your mini tree and put them in a festive bucket of some sorts (always thinking! haha). I also purposefully placed my Harry Styles holiday edition of Seventeen Magazine beneath it, because, well who doesn't want Harry Styles for xmas?

Beside my mini-tree, my "candy corner" is another favorite aspect of my room. With all of the holiday-themed candy brands are coming out with, you can surely find your favorite kind in red, white, or green coloring variations. I found this snowman pail for $1 at Target and put some delectable peppermint Hershey kisses, while some addictive Ghirardelli peppermint squares sit beside them. Whether or not this section of my room is really for when my friends come over or just me…..well you can figure that one out for yourself.

One of the easiest ways to add some holiday cheer to your room is with some pillows. In addition to my festive pillows, I also dusted off one of my old Rudolph stuffed animals to add to my rather bland bed. Typically, I use my pillows year after year (or until my dog rips them apart), so like the mini-tree, you are saving the big $$.

Ah, yes, the finishing touch! What are the holidays without lights? I found my white icicle-like lights at Target. I prefer white because my mini-tree has some pretty obnoxious multicolored lights, but it is really your personal preference whether or not you buy white, multicolored, or blinking lights.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Don't forget to leave me some post requests.Have a nice weekend everyone. xo

If you knew me well, you would know I am probably the furthest thing from "preppy". Despite attending a dress-code, button-down and blazer prep school (I am cringing just thinking about it) ,I still stick to my edgy, casual, and girly style when I can. However, something I can't get enough of as of late is the preppy school-girl trend. Surprsingly enough, I stroke my shopping luck when I found this wool interpretation of the trend on Oasap. Although this frock is complete with sleeves and a knit body, I still turned slightly blue whilst shooting these pictures. Ugh, summer please come back. Now.

I feel like this past week of not blogging has literally been a year….or two. First of all, can we pleeeeease talk about how amazing Catching Fire is? Although I read the books in seventh grade, everything seemingly came back to me and felt so real. Overall, whether you've read the books or not, I highly recommend you see it. Also, I finally got a tumblr!  Feel free to ask me any questions you have (and follow me if you'd like) on there. I can sense an addiction and an abundance of sleepless nights coming on.

P.S. I am finally on Thanksgiving break and have successfully survived another finals week. Yay! I plan to blog more consistently now that school is on the back burner until December 4th. Happy Thanksgiving and  I hope you all have a great week! xx

Holiday Lust List

Ever since my "Glamazon" post, I've developed a slight obsession with fluffy/faux-fur coats. They add a certain New York "high-class touch" to any outfit (in my opinion), no matter where you purchase it. I can imagine any of these statement jackets paired with leather pants, cutout booties, and a simple top, or how I styled mine in my post.

Ahh, yes, beanies. As mentioned in my "Crimson" post, I haven't really been much of a hat person. However, I do have to admit I have always had a love for beanies. Somehow, even in the dead of winter, they can keep you stylish and warm (shocking, I know). Specifically, I have been wanting a beanie like the one in the middle from Topshop. Whether it is because I simply like the knitting or because of the fluff ball on top, you decide.

Last, but certainly not least; black ankle booties. I have been practically living in my pair from Jeffrey Campbell, which I have been featuring often on the blog. However, my shopping philosophy says that there comes a time when you need another pair. The first/second pair, also from Jeffrey Campbell, are a unique take on the cutout bootie, while the third is a classic, goes-with-anything, kind of pair.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the things I have been loving! I had planned on having a less lack-luster post up today, but lets just say my tri-pod is not my friend. However, once exams finally end on Friday, I will be back with outfit/random posts galore. While I procrastinate exam studying by planning posts to do, do you guys have any requests? Room tour, DIYs, holiday gift guides- you name it! Hope you're doing well. xx

As I sit upon my bed typing, bundled up in my festive snowflake blanket, I begin to ponder my sanity when I glance at these photos (which you're probably doing too). However, I do have to take into consideration that I took these photos nearly a week and a half ago, when it was still semi-warm and not snowing. I took advantage of the sunny weather by sneaking in my last opportunity to wear shorts (w/o tights!) and a tank top, with a printed butterfly-y kimono for slight warmth. And docs of course! How is the weather where you live?

Thanksgiving break in t-minus 10 days! The only thing standing between me and days of relaxation and seeing my friends are the dreaded fall exams, complete with stress upon stress. Until then, I might not be as consistent on here, but will be back with posts soon enough! Hope you enjoyed this post. xx

As much as I love hats on other people, I have never really been a hat kinda gal. However, I felt almost obligated the join the bandwagon when I spotted this Topshop felt hat. Despite its eye-widening price, I can imagine myself wearing it with almost anything- like this outfit, skirts/sweater combos, and of course dresses. To accompany my hat, I wore a crimson colored sweater that feels like a bundle of warmth, my staple boyfriend jeans, and what I would refer to as a variation of the "d'orsay" flat. For this quaint "stroll around town" type look, I paired a small Marc by Marc Jacobs crossbody, complete with an adorable lips print in the inside.

I hope you all are having a relaxing day! I just indulged in a large coffee with hazelnut (evidently burning my tongue) and am jamming out to some songs from my last post, disregarding the pile of homework surrounding me- so I am doing pretty well.

Oh! Also, beside outfit posts, I haven't as much inspiration for posts lately/had much time to think. So, what would you guys like to see? Ask and you shall receive. Haha, have a fab day! xx

November Playlist

November Playlist by Isabelle N on Grooveshark

With new albums and songs being released, I have been collecting more and more music lately, and strangely from different artists than I typically listen to. As I clicked (and cringed from) purchasing yet another song today, I thought, why not make a playlist? I haven't made one since last year, and so I thought it was time I do another! Let me know what you think of these playlist type posts and comment below your favorite songs of the moment! Enjoy. xo

P.S. If you were wondering my headphones are by Frends and phone case from Urban Outfitters.
