Style Story: Vanessa Hudgens

At Coachella

Running errands; love the fringe booties and the tribal dress

Out shopping; adorable maxi skirt

At Coachella; edgy tights are a must for Vanessa

Visiting her mom; I enjoy the shrug/scarf thing she has going on as an extra layer

Above are just a few of my favorite outfits Vanessa Hudgens has been seen wearing lately. Throughout all of the outfits, she has been able to incorporate her bohemian style persona no matter what the occasion. Believe it or not, she wore some of the outfits shown to visit her mom, go shopping, run errands, and go to a music festival. She really enjoys just throwing on a knit sweater or cardigan to add a laid-back feel or a source of warmth. A key item of Vanessa's wardrobe is her Chanel bag. It basically matches everything, plus it has enough room for her essentials, like her I-Phone and Rodial Glow balm.

Unsure of how to be as outgoing as Vanessa when it comes to fashion? Here is a quote of Vanessa's I try to live by:

"Confidence is key. Sometimes, you need to look like you're confident even when you're not."

As I type this, everyone is "running a muck". People are building tables (strange, yes), running around, and sleeping (I am about to as well). This afternoon's practice marks the last practice of pre-season when we are all in the same dorm. Tomorrow my mom makes a trip up here to help move me in. I am excited to set up my room, but anxious for the trek to the tennis courts from my dorm. Tonight we have a pizza party scheduled, even though we had pizza for lunch and dinner a few nights ago. Anyway, how is your day going?

What I am up to: 8/26/12

What I am up to: 8/26/12

So, as most of you know, I am not exactly at home. I have mentioned several times about a blog post regarding where I am/what I am doing coming up, and the post has finally come. Keep reading for an "in-depth" explanation about my situation.

Last summer I was introduced to the option of boarding school. One of my neighbors had gone there for high school, so I decided to take a look into my options. Around August, I had decided I wanted to at least try getting in to boarding school.  I had people questioning my decision a lot, but I pushed those statements to the back of my mind. I got myself into several grueling hours of filling out applications and writing essays as well. By March, I couldn't wait any more for the results. Thankfully, March 10th marked the results day for basically every boarding school in existence. I screamed ,"Yippeeeeee!" at the sight of "Congratulations!" I had gotten into the school I had hoped for. From that day on, I prepared to go away for school. My mom begun collecting things for my dorm room around June; school hadn't even ended. Mid July, I was sent a form to choose my fall sport. I decided on something I had done for a long time-tennis.

Over the summer, I received numerous e-mails regarding tennis, whether it was about apparel, experience,or other random topics. At the end of July, I was informed  that based on my experience, I would be invited to try out for Varsity/attend pre-season. Since August 23rd, I have had two hour practices twice a day. I guess I can't complain since the water polo team practices four times a day. Anyway, I have begun my start at my new school and I can't wait to immerse myself in what the school has to offer.

P.S. We are having a pizza party which I am pumped for

Leave in the comments what your school situation is for this year :)

Outfit of the Day: ft. Allison

A few days ago, Allison and I hung out to satisfy our desire to see each other one last time before I left for school. We decided we wanted to do a blog post on our outfits for fun. I hope you enjoy our outfits!

Outfit of the Day: ft. Allison

Isabelle

Top: Local, Shorts: D1961
Loafers: Tory Burch

Bracelets: Brandy Melville, NYC Boutique

What I enjoy about my outfit is the preppiness. Instead of throwing on some flip-flops, I decided loafers would better suit my style. I brought out the pink in the blouse immensely simply by adding some hot pink big waisted shorts. I definitely have worn this  outfit a lot this summer.

Allison

Top: Forever 21, Shorts: Waterlily (Mine from Australia)

Combat Boots: Bass

Allison's outfit combines edgy ad trendy. Combat boots give her the trendy vibe, while her shirt has some grunge to it. To lighten up the outfit, she put on some light  wash shorts, instead of the traditional dark wash look most people sport. Allison is very excited for her new combat boots and will probably be featured in another post about combat boots along with me.

As I write this blog post, I am sitting in my dorm room waiting for 30 minutes to pass before I have to get back on the tennis courts. As mentioned previously, a blog post will be coming up about what I am doing. However, let me mention now, blog posts will come on days I have a decent sized break. I will do my best, but no guarantees. Anyway, how are you all doing? I am absolutely pooped from yesterdays practice. Each day we have two hour practices twice a day. Therefore, I can justify eating cake next time I go home. Hope you all are have a great day! Go eat some cake.

Dream cake, haha

NYC (Camp) Day 5

My magazine (Sun)

Ah yes, finally day 5. Sorry for the delay of this post, I just wasn't sure if my blog was NYC overload. Anyway, we began the day with some more project work. Thankfully, I had worked on the project at the hotel, and was able to relax a bit. Once everyone had finished (what they could) of their project, we begun a run through of our runway show. My partner and I had decided on me being the model, so I practiced my "runway" walk. After an hour of strutting to Lady Gaga's 'Fashion, our stomachs began to churn as parents and fellow campers filed in our make shift runway seating area. I did my best to do some poses at the turning points, but in reality, I probably looked like a walking disaster (haha). Anyway, all in all, I think I had 10 times more fu this year than last year. I gained friends I text day to day, knowledge of the fashion world, and a few blisters from my Tory Burch flats. I recommend Fashion CampNYC to anyone interested!

Today, I packed, packed, and did I mentioned I packed? I had to pack for pre-season (tennis) and tomorrow I pack for actual school. I am nervous/excited for school. I will most definitely miss my friends, but I know we will keep in touch. Tonight I watched a nerve-racking episode of Pretty Little Liars with my friend Allison.  We basically screamed the entire episode. Leave your opinion of the episode in the comments! Have a fine evening/day!

Wish-list Wednesday (or Sunday)

         Louis Vuitton Bosphore Backpack

Obviously it isn't Wednesday, but I just had to get this post up and share my current obsession. Anyway, the top of my wish-list at the moment is a Louis Vuitton backpack. The youthfulness and practicality of it is hard to find. I suppose what attracts me to it is the simplicity. Yes, it comes out to a whopping $1,720, but I think it could be the type of thing which would carry throughout your entire life, even to the point where knitting supplies are stored in it. It isn't your typical backpack which is uncomfortable and awkward, which is why several celebrities have been seen sporting it.  Below are pictures of just a few different celebrities seen wearing this backpack upon their shoulders:

Kendall Jenner

Ashley Tisdale

Kylie Jenner
Last night I had a "going away" party for myself for before I leave for school (I will talk about this in another post), which was absolutely awesome. Two of my friends made me a heartfelt collage which will definitely go up in my room at school. I am excited for the change of being away for school, but nervous as well for the all around situation at hand. Today basically served as a recovery day from staying up until 4 in the morning watching Bridesmaids. How has your day been? Additionally, tell me what you think of the backpack in the comments.

Pretty and Polished with an Edge

Pretty and Polished with an Edge

Top: H&M, Skirt:Theory

Studded Booties: Steve Madden

Something I love about this combination of the shirt and skirt is how versatile they are together. I could've easily added simple ballet flats for more of a polished appearance. Additionally, tights will make this outfit more season appropriate for winter. A tip I have besides changing the shoes or adding tights is to add a sweater. You and I both know on a brisk fall night that we both won't be wearing a ill-fitting sweatshirt. The collar of the top helps the top to peak through, while tucking in the sweater lets the pleating of the skirt shine through as well.

Sweater: Aritzia

I am kind of in love with this burgundy color for fall, so when I found this sweater at Artizia, my day was made. I can imagine this sweater not only used the way I did, but also with leggings and combat boots in the winter.

Today I have nothing really planned. I had hoped to hang out with my friends, but it seems as if that isn't going to work out. I will probably end up basking in the sun with my dog Bentley ,who will be swimming laps. Later on, I plan on going to Macy's with my mother to get a school bag I have been lusting after. How has your weekend been going? Hope it has been awesome!

Glam Rock Fall Look

This fall, I will be channeling my inner "glam rock princess." Typically I wear more classic and sophisticated outfits, but for some reason, I have been more edgy-like lately.

A huge color for fall is oxblood, which is why I chose this oxblood colored sweater. Instead of just adding plain black jeans, I decided on leather pants. Something I have noticed for fall is coated denim, like metallics. Instead of having to buy a pair of coated denim, I recommend going for leather pants, which have a similar appearance, while being more versatile. Although coated denim is quite trendy, leather pants will never go out of style. By adding combat boots, this grunge/hipster look is intensified and more edgy. Fold them over for a more laid-back look. If you don't  think combat boots are for you, wear simple black loafers to keep the focus on your sweater and accessories.  Studs are huge for an edgy look, which this mouth-watering bag posses, but in a subtle way. Bring some skulls and studs into your jewelry with a smokey eye and you are ready to rock on.

In comparison to yesterday, I have done "zilch" today. Something I did do ,though, was recover photos on my camera. My dad had bought me a new lens for everyday use while I was in NYC, and had kindly put it on for me. However, when the screen read ,"Would you like  to format?" he selected "Yes". All of my pictures were gone. Frantic, I googled how to recover them because I had pictures for my blog and adorable pictures of my friends and me. After countless minutes of searching for a reliable program, I struck gold with "Photo Rescue". Despite the people on Wiki Answers saying it was impossible to undo formatting, I pushed through and was able to get every single picture back. Now, I am sitting writing this while my TV has no signal and my dog shivers at the weather.  How has your day been?

NYC (Camp) Day 3 + 4

Camp Day 3

Packet

Stravinsky Exercise

Making a model
A X
Presentation Space with Spring 2012 Clothing

Day 1 begun with, of course, some project time. Personally, the mere 60 minutes we were given were a miracle considering I hadn't even begun assembling my magazine at this point.Although I ended up with only some more cut outs by the end of the day, I felt more affirmative in where I was going. Following that short hour, we had a Fashion Illustration class, where we learn a myriad of things. First, we were given a packet which contained drawing tips, information on fashion design, and works of art Ty Wilson, the person who taught the class, drew.  After perusing through the packet, we begun the Stravinsky exercise. Through this exercise, you learn that even the least artsy person can draw. You have to draw a Picasso picture upside down.  I think mine turned out alright, but since I didn't finish, I thought I wouldn't post the picture. Next, we learned how to draw a basic model figure, helpful for designing. I was a lot better this year than last year (at camp), which made me excited. After a grueling yet fun 2 hours, we went to lunch at Europa cafe.  Eventually we took an adventurous subway trip to the Armani Exchange showrooms. We were supplied with a preview of Spring 2012, an inside look of how products are created, and free t-shirts (score!)  And so, we hurried back to LIM College to see time had a not been on our side. Day 3 is complete.

Camp Day 4
Sorry for the lack of pictures for Day 4! I felt it would be rude to take pictures of the presenters, and we weren't allowed to take picture in H&M.

Now, I have to admit, today was probably not my favorite. We begun the day with a shopping trip to H&M. I forgot to mention that on Day 3, they paired us up in groups of two for something called "The Project Runway Challenge."  We were paired based on whose magazines were closest  in relation. This challenge is to create a look inspired by your magazines, and have one person in the group model it on Day 5.  So after struggling to find maxi-dresses during the transition to fall, my partner Olivia and I made our way back to LIM for a presentation. Dorothy Cascerceri, a TV fashion editor, spoke to us about her job and how she worked her way to being featured on E!. I found this very interesting, yet, by the time Donegar group was done speaking about colors, I was exhausted. Thankfully, we were dismissed to lunch, which was a relief for everyone is seemed. When I saw we had Michelle Spiro of Calvin Klein Underwear speaking, I  cringed. I was like,"What could someone in the underwear industry have to offer?" I was completely wrong in what I had thought. She had some cool exercises to do with us, which I think stems from her physiology background. After gaining knowledge on how to make use of my clothing within my closet, we were given goodie bags, which was pretty awesome. After a jam-packed day, we had some much needed project work time. At this point, I had maybe one page of my magazine done, and I really needed to work. Now Day 4 has been completed.

You guys will never believe what I did today! Yes, a music video. I was having a sleepover with the people  I call my best friends, and somehow my one friend was like ,"Let's do a music video!" We sifted through my i-pod and decided on "Good Time" by Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City. If you guys want to see the video, I will post it, so just make a comment telling me what you thought of the post above and if you want to see it. Have a nice night/day!
